Advertising STEPS at your church
Below is an example of a comms plan that we ran at Christ Church London leading up to a STEPS course that started with introductions on 3rd and 10th March.
We recommend you start advertising your course about 5 weeks before the Introduction Session. We suggest running two introduction dates on consecutive weeks, as we have found this increases (almost doubles) the number of sign-ups.
5 weeks before | Play STEPS video trailer at church |
4 weeks before | Send out email invitation to church (or include in newsletter) |
3 weeks before | Play ‘Tafi’s story’ video at church |
2 weeks before | Live interview/filmed interview from participant at church |
1 week before | Final verbal notice reminder |
In this example, we played the trailer at church 5 weeks before the Introduction Session, sent out an email invitation, played Tafi’s video interview 3 weeks before, interviewed a participant live 2 weeks before, (which could also be a video interview), and gave a final verbal notice in the week of the first introduction (see below).
Please contact your STEPS Coach for access to STEPS Stories videos (if this is your first time running STEPS).
Advertising on your church website
You may want to use our STEPS branding on your own website when advertising the course. Here is an example which you may want to copy content from: christchurchlondon.org/steps
Advertising STEPS in a home or community
If you are planning to run a STEPS course in your home or local community, you may want to advertise this more personally as well as through your church. Social media is one of the best tools to advertise your course more locally, as well as face-to-face or via text etc.
- We suggest creating a Facebook event for your course, with all the details, and personally inviting friends/people in your network who may be interested
- You can also share or repost content from our official Facebook and Instagram pages to spread the word
All other STEPS materials required for running the course including all 12 videos, Course Book and the Manual are available in this Resources website.
